Quick answer
Thanksgiving bingo uses cards filled with holiday words like Turkey, Pumpkin Pie, Pilgrims and Parade. A caller draws words from a bowl, players mark matching squares, and the first to finish a row, column or diagonal wins. It is a calm, all-ages game that fits perfectly between the meal and dessert, or at the kids' table while the turkey rests.

There is always a lull on Thanksgiving. The turkey needs to rest for 30 minutes, the kids are restless, and the football game is at halftime. Thanksgiving bingo fills that gap with something three generations can play at the same table. In 2026, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26.
How do you play Thanksgiving bingo?
A caller reads words from the list, and players cover matching squares until one has five in a row.
- Print a card for every player using the generator at the top of this page.
- Cut the calling list at the bottom of the page into strips and place them in a bowl, basket or (clean) pie tin.
- Choose a caller. Grandparents love this job.
- The caller draws one word at a time and reads it aloud.
- Players mark matches with dried corn kernels, beans, candy corn or a crayon.
- The first to finish a line calls “Bingo!” (or “Gobble gobble!”) and wins.
The center square is free for everyone.
How many Thanksgiving bingo cards should I print?
Print one per guest plus a couple of spares. If 14 people are coming for dinner, print 16. The generator gives every card a different arrangement, so cousins can’t copy each other. Letter paper is fine, and you can tuck a card under each plate as a place setting.
Thanksgiving bingo for the kids’ table
The kids’ table is where Thanksgiving bingo shines. Give them cards and a bowl of candy corn while adults finish cooking. Younger children can play with an older cousin as their partner, and the caller can hold up each strip so new readers can match the word. For teachers, the same cards work for a pre-break class party. Our guide to bingo for kids in the classroom has tips for keeping a big group on track.
Fun variations
- Parade bingo. Play during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade broadcast. Instead of calling words, players mark items as they see them on TV: “Balloons”, “Marching band”, “Santa” at the end.
- Football bingo. Pair this card with our Super Bowl bingo squares during the afternoon games.
- Gratitude bingo. When a player marks a square, they share one thing they are thankful for that relates to it. It slows the game down, in a good way.
- Pie prize round. Play a blackout game. The winner gets the first slice of pie, with their choice of flavor.
Thanksgiving bingo prize ideas
The easiest prize is food: first pick of dessert, the wishbone or the last dinner roll. Other ideas include fall-scented candles, mini pies, a coloring page set, autumn socks, or getting out of dish duty. That last one is usually the most fought-over. Find more ideas in our bingo prize ideas.
Tips for a smooth game
- Keep it short. Play two or three quick rounds rather than one long one.
- Seat people who need help near the caller. Older relatives with hearing loss will appreciate it, and our large print bingo cards help anyone with low vision.
- Have prizes ready before dinner so the game starts the moment plates are cleared.
